When clients need help in troubleshooting issues or advice on issues, our 24x7 support team of certified application analyst offers expert advice and troubleshooting to helps client figure out the root cause of problem and avoid any production downtimes or delays. We support end-users, troubleshoot and test Cerner applications and build new enhancements and/or upgrades.

Our high performing efficient and precise custom CCL / Discern Explorer program and reports make a difference in day to day activities of our healthcare clients. We provide clients the customized CCL programs can bridge the gap between current Cerner install and their business needs. We have a team of certified CCL® engineers which have strong understanding of Millennium® data model and solutions which reflects in our capabilities to not only build custom CCL reports but custom programs for handling functionalities like order dispensing, billing, label printing, EKM rules etc.

We also provide services for Performance Tuning of Scripts, Millennium Database Management/Administration, Installations, Troubleshooting, Remote 24/7 Monitoring and Cerner Conversions/Version Upgrades

For clients who want to develop custom or niche applications on the Cerner Millennium® architecture, our team of Cerner-Certified Objects Engineers (CCOEs) is the answer. Millennium Objects exposes Java and XML/Web Services to create a set of open, object-oriented service Application Programming Interfaces (API) for client developers to leverage their domain knowledge within Cerner Millennium. As a result, they can create new combinations of unique functionality or unique applications to be developed while using the business logic, access controls, and security and auditing capabilities within Cerner Millennium. This saves your organization the time and cost of creating applications from scratch and allows you to use/update data already present in the Cerner Millennium system using new custom applications.

We have rich experience of implementing Millennium Objects® for seamless integration of the new developed applications with existing install of Cerner Millennium at client site. We are cognizant of healthcare standard and HIPPA compliances and ensure our IT solutions are totally compliance to the international standards.

MPages is a web-based platform that enables clients to create customized views of Cerner Millennium data at the Organizer or Chart Level from within PowerChart®, FirstNet®, INet® and SurgiNet®. In depth knowledge of Cerner data model and architecture helps Manuh’s Cerner consultants to be a leader in mPages development. We have developed from very complex to simpler mPages using Millennium Objects and custom CCL programs. The underlying technology behind an mPage is a CCL query to pull the required data and a web-based presentation layer to display the data

We have rich experience with implementing Cerner technologies for seamless integration of hospital applications with existing installations of Cerner Millennium at client sites. We understand healthcare standards and HIPAA compliance and ensure our IT solutions are totally compliant with national standards. We have included a few case studies that show some of the integration solutions and mPages that we have developed for our clients.

Have you been told that it wasn’t possible to build the alert you wanted because the Discern Expert templates did not have the criteria that was needed or that no Discern Expert template was even available?

At Manuh Solutions our Discern Expert professionals have never had to tell a client ”No” to any of their Discern Rule requests. This is due to our deep understanding of not just the superficial aspects of Discern Expert and ccl, but rather a software engineers in-depth understanding of Cerners underlying server architecture and how to utilize it to accomplish what most think is the undoable. A few novel solutions we have produced utilizing our expert resources:

When future orders of specific types are placed and the date of the order falls on a weekend or a holiday, an alert is generated notifying that the date is a holiday and what the holiday is or that the order is on a weekend allowing either the modification such as adding additional information needed by weekend or holiday staff or changing the date or just continuation of order placement without any changes

The client wanted to install Lexi-Comp content for pediatric dose ranges while utilizing Cerner’s standard DRC Discern Expert rule to evaluate dosages on medication orders. The difficulty they were facing was alert fatigue caused by the number of clinically unnecessary alerts that would be received due to the default functionality of the systems. Manuh Solutions was asked to help achieve the goal of increasing patient safety without creating an environment of “alert fatigue”. There were a number of sources of unnecessary alert messages. A few of them were:

Duration field:

On signing each medication, intermittent or continuous pharmacy order, the user was encountering some unwanted alerts popping up when a value less than 24 hours was entered in the “Duration” field.

Dose field:

For each type of pharmacy orderable -- medication, intermittent or continuous -- the system was sending unnecessary alerts / warning messages. This occurred if, and only if, the user entered free text in the Dose field and signed the order. It did not occur if the user signed the order using a predefined Dose field value.

Component Frequency field:

When placing continuous pharmacy orders, the system was sending some unwanted alert / warning messages. These messages were being triggered when the “PER LITER” Frequency value was selected from the drop down menu.

Rate field:

For continuous pharmacy orders, the system was sending unwanted alerts. This occurred when the user entered a value in the Free Text Rate field instead of the Rate field and signed the order.

The scope of this project is to ensure that when a pharmacy order is placed with ‘Route of Administration’ defined as ‘Nebulizer/Inhaler’, then the same order details should be auto-populated for Respiratory Therapist enabling him to follow the specific therapy protocols and instructions if specified.

In the clinical instance before the inception of this project, when a Pharmacy order is placed with a drug defined with ‘Route of Administration’ as ‘Nebulizer/Inhaler’ it would be available only in the pharmacy order section of the application. Thus when the Respiratory Therapist had to follow the specific instructions and follow a pre-defined protocol, it resulted in navigation to different section of the application, sometimes misinterpretation of data has lead to Patient Hazard and very manual in terms of application usage.

Functional Goals:

With the implementation of this project, we are achieving the functional goals as defined below:

Auto-population of Orders:

Only pharmacy orders which are marked with ‘Route of Administration’ as ‘Nebulizer/Inhaler’, we would be displaying the same message for the Respiratory Therapist. In case when the drug is marked as PRN, only one dosage listing should be listed. Whereas when the drug is not marked as PRN, then all the sequential sub orders will be displayed to the Respiratory Therapist.

Controlled data transmission:

As it’s mentioned when the drug is marked as PRN, only one dosage listing should be listed. This feature explains the data control filter that is set to the marker ‘PRN’ and thus gives high quality data to the end user. This also reduces the manual search for ‘PRN’ drugs by the end user.

Patient Safety:

When the drug is not marked as ‘PRN’, then the sub orders will be populated as indicated in the main order. For eg: If Salbutamol is prescribed 8 hourly for 3 days, then we should provide 3 slots of Administration time and repeat the same time slots for 3 days. Total number of administrations should be 9 and these calculations can lead to Patient Hazard if there is an instance of miscalculation. So we are covering the vital practice of patient safety with these auto-calculations and creation of sub orders. This in turn reduces manual errors and also reduces manual navigation to fetch similar data every time this data needs to be referenced.

The Manuh Solutions’ team investigated and analyzed the issues thoroughly. In the end, we came up with solutions that suppressed all of the unwanted messages.Utilizing the power of custom CCL with Discern Expert and the foundation components of Cerner Millennium we are confident that any problems you bring can be resolved.
